Humanity should take more pride in birth control. I understand how loaded this topic is, but regardless of your religious (read: make-believe) slant, you have to admit, it is kinda cool that humans have figured out how to directly intervene in the natural process.
Yes, there are drawbacks. Intelligent humanity may use birth control in a larger percentage than the lower classes, but still, it is a remarkable achievement. We figured out how our bodies work. No other species can say to have done that to the degree we have. Then we figured out how to interfere based on a desire we acknowledge in ourselves. No other species has the capability to do that. So rejoice! You are part of a species that can sort its own shit out!

Baby Steps: Fuck
This blog will be about the tributes humanity has created that it so rarely considers.
First on this list is the word "fuck." According to the Oxford English Dictionary, fuck is probably a cognate with the Dutch "fokken." This is what I am choosing to begin with because I believe it will set a tone for the rest of the blog.
Why this word? I consider it a fitting tribute to humanity because our primary obscenity and worst obscenity and only natural infix is so extreme. A person can use the word in almost every part of speech because it is so versatile. We truly use this word with frivolity, which is something only humans can experience, and yet, we have such a reaction to it. It is a word that is designed to illicit a response, and it does so, yet when someone uses it, it may or may not be an extreme reaction. I just love this word because it can be used in any way and always retains its own right. We feel emotion, we can express it with this word. We fornicate, we can express it with this word. We label someone in a negative manner, we can express it with this word. We seek to outrage or inspire, we can express it with this word. We want to describe something, we can express it with this word. For all of our progress in linguistics, we have created a word that is truly a monster. It is a tribute to humanity because it stands alone as a great achievement. Fuck!
